ISLAMABAD: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over his party’s victory in the general elections.
According to reports, Indian prime minister telephoned Pakistan’s prime minister-in-waiting and extended congratulations over his victory.
The both exchanged their views on Indo-Pak relations and regional peace.
The PTI chairman thanked Modi for his ‘good wishes’ and said all the issues should be resolved through dialogue.

Earlier in the day, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Hunarmand Dost said that Imran Khan’s victory in 2018 General Elections will further strengthen ties between the two countries and that Iran is willing to fully cooperate with next government.
He also praised the people of Pakistan for showing “willingness to apply their right to self-determination accomplish progress and development in the country”. Mehdi also said Iran is willing to cooperate with Pakistan in various ventures to bolster ties.

Earlier, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani had called the PTI chairman and congratulated him on his victory in the elections, and invited him to visit Kabul.
Ghani tweeted that both sides had also “agreed to overcome the past and to lay a new foundation for a prosperous political, social and economic future of both countries Afghanistan and Pakistan.”
