QUETTA: At least 16 coal miners were killed, while several others were injured after a coal mine collapsed in Margate area of Quetta on Saturday.
The rescue teams and security officials rushed to the area, while operations are underway to recover the trapped miners.
The rescue officials said that the trapped miners will be evacuated as soon as the airway is cleared. However, there was “very low probability of their survival.”
Quetta Police Commissioner Javed Anwar Shahwani said that 23 individuals were working in the mine when the incident happened.
However, according to Chief Inspector Maiz Iftikhar Ahmed, there were a total of 30 miners, of which 16 were pronounced dead.
